TEMIRZHAN YERZHANOV

The pianist from Kazakhstan launched his career by winning the First Prize and Gold Medal at the XIth International Robert Schumann Piano Competition 1993 in Zwickau, Germany one of the most respected in the world.
Since then, Temirzhan Yerzhanov has toured in Germany, Russia, France, Italy, Switzerland, Czech Republic, USA, China and India. As a soloist he has performed with many orchestras including Zwickauer Philharmonisches, The Kazakh Philharmonic, Moscow Radio Tchaikovsky Symphony, Sacramento Philharmonic, San Luis Obispo Symphony, New American Chamber, The Symphony Orchestra of India. He has appeared in a wide range of venues such as Berlin Konzerthaus and Leipzig Gewandhaus, Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and Dresden Sempergalerie, Schumann and Tchaikovsky Memorial Houses, Salle Pleyel in Paris and Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in New York, Moscow and St. Petersburg Philharmonic Halls.
Yerzhanov has been featured on broadcasts of BBC Radio, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Radio Russia, Capital Radio Sacramento, Kazakh TV and others. Deutsche Radio Berlin, Hong Kong Radio and Russian Orpheus Radio have made his studio recordings and presented him in live concert broadcasts and talk shows. He garnered much praise for his first solo CD album, of Schumann works, released by RCD label.
A diverse musician, Mr. Yerzhanov conceived and performed unusual projects such as Rossini's Petite Messe Sollennele and the jubilee recital Prokofiev. Almaty. 1942-1943, featuring all the piano scores that composer wrote during his residency in Yerzhanov’s home city. His New York debut at the Merkin Hall was marked by the World premiere of Almas Serkebaev's Concerto No3 and his San Francisco debut recital included US premiere of Igor Khudoley's Boris Godunov Suite, a work both virtuosic and profound. The pianist has collaborated with many prominent musicians such as sopranos Elena Kelessidi and Melody Moore, clarinetist Michael Collins, violinist Marat Bisengaliev, male alto Erik Kurmangaliev, conductors Vladimir Fedoseev, Lothar Seyfart, Johannes Wildner, Michael Morgan and many others.
A native of Almaty, Temirzhan Yerzhanov studied since his early years at the Central Music School in Moscow and graduated from the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory, having studied with Professor Mikhail Voskressensky. He was a faculty member of his alma mater for four years before moving to the USA in 2002. Gaining an immediate respect there, Temirzhan Yerzhanov was awarded by San Francisco Classical Voice ‘Best Performance of 2007’ title as the only instrumental soloist along with San Francisco Opera and soprano Angela Gheorghiu, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Mark Morris Dance Group, Artemis Quartet and Medieval Trio. Last year Con Brio Recordings label released a new CD, featuring Prokofiev’s Cinderella-Suites and World recording premiere of Classical Symphony, favorably welcomed by several reviews. His recent and upcoming engagements include concerts in Irvine, San Francisco, Pleasant Hill (all in California), Seoul, Cambridge University, Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, Moscow Conservatory, St. Petersburg Grand Philharmonic Hall, Almaty Philharmonic Hall; concertos with Diablo Symphony, Kyrgyz National Symphony Orchestra, The Kazakh Philharmonic Orchestra and Vogtland Philharmonie.
